If you are looking into the study medicine in Georgia entry requirements for UK students, the first thing worth knowing is that there is no UCAT, no BMAT, and no entrance exam. Admission is based on your A-level grades and an interview.
That said, not everyone qualifies. Here is exactly what Georgian medical universities require from UK applicants in 2026.
A-level grades
You need A-levels that include Biology and Chemistry. As long as you’ve achieved a pass in three A-levels, that’s generally sufficient, most Georgian universities don’t typically look beyond that.
If you have lower grades, do not write yourself off before speaking to an advisor. Some universities place more weight on the interview than on grades alone, and resit applicants are considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you studied outside the A-level system – IB, Scottish Highers, or BTEC combinations – these are accepted. Gateway Medics assesses equivalency as part of the free application process.
English language
If English is your first language or your medium of education, no test is required. UK students applying from English-taught secondary schools do not need IELTS or TOEFL.
However, if English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate proficiency. Most universities accept IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, though some conduct their own English assessment at interview instead.
The interview
All three of Gateway Medics’ Georgian partner universities require an interview. Unlike the MMI format used by most UK medical schools, this is a direct conversation assessing your motivation, communication, and reasons for choosing medicine.
Gateway Medics provides interview preparation as part of the free application support. You will not go in blind.
Documents you will need
- Valid passport
- A-level certificates or predicted grades if you are still in school
- Academic transcripts from secondary school
- Personal statement
- Passport-sized photographs
Some universities may ask for additional documents depending on your nationality or circumstances. In all cases, Gateway Medics checks your full document list before submission so nothing is missing.

Georgia medical school entry requirements vs the UK
This is where Georgia differs most from the UK system. Unlike UCAS, Georgian universities do not require:
- UCAT or BMAT
- A minimum amount of work experience (though having some strengthens your interview)
- A personal statement scored against national criteria
- You to limit the number of universities you apply to
If you were rejected from UK medical schools because of your UCAT score, Georgia removes that barrier entirely. As the GMC makes clear, it is the Medical Licensing Assessment after graduation that sets the standard for UK practice – not your pre-entry test score.
Can I apply if I am still in sixth form?
Yes. Universities accept predicted grades from your school. You will need to provide confirmed results once they are available, before enrollment begins.
Gateway Medics regularly places students who apply during their A-level year, with offers conditional on meeting the grade requirements.
What happens after you apply
- Gateway Medics reviews your documents and confirms eligibility
- Your application is submitted directly to your chosen university
- The university reviews and invites you to interview
- Gateway Medics prepares you for the interview
- You receive your offer
- Gateway Medics guides you through enrollment, visa, and relocation
The whole process is free. No agency fees. Apply here and an advisor will be in touch within 24 hours.
